Reports redundancies on hold at Falmouth Docks
3:20pm Friday 11th October 2013 in News
Reports have come in that the redundancy exercise at Falmouth Docks has been put on hold after the shipyard won two new repair contracts
The two new contracts are said to involve the tug MTS Victory and bulk carrier CSL Argosy, which will undergo a ten day refit.
The work was confirmed in the space of 24 hours, with MTS Victory due in No 3 dock on Tuesday, October 15, and CSL Argosy will dry dock for a tight ten day refit in No 2 dock on Thursday, October 17.
The docks expect that by mid-week the workforce will be "fully utilised" for at least a week and probably until towards the end of October.
This means that the redundancy exercise is "on hold and no compulsory redundancies will be confirmed for the coming week", although this will be reviewed weekly.
No-one from the docks was available for comment, but we will bring you more as we get it.
