The youngsters at St Francis School in Falmouth had a complete break from normal lessons for a day last week when some of the time was spent making kites.
The activity involved the whole school and saw the older children teaming up with younger ones to help them with their creations. The kite making was part of the school’s celebrations for St Francis Day and tied in nicely with the school’s motto, Flying High.
The underlying theme of St Francis Day at the school is caring for pets and animals in general so the children also were given a talk by a representative from the Blue Cross animal charity.
There were also pirate and princess puzzles to have fun with and storytelling, but the culmination of the day saw all the children take to the playground to fly their kites.
