Police in Penryn are urging residents to make sure their properties are secure following several burglaries in the area.

According to a report given to Penryn Town Council, they believe a string of thefts in Penryn and the Falmouth area may be linked, and advised the public to check security, especially around outbuildings, sheds and garages.

In October’s update on police activity in Penryn, PCSO Lewis Vague told councillors the Tremough Dale neighbourhood had been targeted in particular, with one suspect believed to be connected to two burglaries and one theft from a parked car.

The individual was also thought to be involved in several other burglaries in the Falmouth area. PCSO Vague said there was CCTV footage of the theft from the car, and DNA had been collected from one burglary.

He added that there was no pattern between the timings of the thefts.

Overall there were five |burglaries and 15 thefts reported during October, and PCSO Vague said the number of thefts was stable, with the majority being from shops.
