The Singing Seagulls were in fine voice when they performed to an appreciative audience at Helston’s Andrew Hall.
Their performance was part of a fundraising Cornish Evening for St Michael’s Church.
Singing unaccompanied the group gave renditions of many popular Cornish songs, |including ‘Lamorna’, ‘The White Rose’ and ‘Song for Cornwall’.
The evening raised £232 for church funds, with a further £50 going to the singers’ charity, the Cornwall Air Ambulance.
A pasty supper, with cakes provided by church members, was enjoyed as part of the evening.
Thanks were given to Hazel Thorn and her helpers who, together with Seagulls member John Dower, arranged the evening.
The singers, from Helston and the surrounding area, are led by Cecil Bennetts from Beacon in Camborne and welcome new members. For more for details visit www.thesingingseagulls.com or call Mr Bennetts on 01209 717628.
