A West Cornwall tourist attraction has been named the best business in the county at this year’s Cornwall Tourism Awards.
Geevor Tin Mine in West Cornwall led the celebrations by claiming the coveted Winner of Winners title as well as gold in the newly introduced art, museum and maritime attraction category.
The attraction was singled out for its interactive Cornish mining exhibitions and tours, plus its value for money.
Heartlands in Pool claimed four awards across a range of categories, while the Headland Hotel in Newquay and the Eden Project both picked up two gold trophies.
In the food categories the Pandora Inn at Restronguet was named pub of the year for the third time whilst the top restaurant accolade was collected by The Herring at the Bedruthan Steps Hotel.
Malcolm Bell, head of Visit Cornwall, was at the ceremony to congratulate the winners and said: “The trophies won in the Cornwall Tourism Awards represent a tremendous amount of work and are a true reflection of the businesses winning them.
“Rather than being awarded on a first, second and third point scoring basis they are the combination of a number of factors and directly relate to the quality of the individual business – that’s why, in a number of the categories, we have multiple gold, silver, bronze or commended winners. They should all be immensely proud and I congratulate each and every one of them.”
