Falmouth’s live nativity is due to take place again this year, but help is needed in the form of stewards and the loan of animals.

The event, organised by Falmouth and Penryn Churches Together, is to take place from 1.30pm on December 15 and will begin at Events Square with Mary and Joseph and their donkeys.

The pair will walk through the town, stopping at various places as the story unfolds. They will meet innkeepers at two pubs, shepherds with their sheep as they meet with angels outside King Charles Church and Herod in his palace at St George’s Arcade.

Three wise women on horseback will follow a star from Superdrug and follow Mary and Joseph onto The Moor where the story will reach its climax and baby Jesus is born.

After the scene on The Moor, there will be carol singing and a short reflection before hot drinks and biscuits are served at Falmouth Methodist Church at about 3pm.

In a marquee on The Moor there will also be a chance to see and pet a selection of animals, including donkeys, horses, goats, rabbits, guinea pigs, alpacas, sheep.

More are needed, though, and anyone who can loan more tame guinea pigs, ducks, geese, llamas, quails, calves or anything suitable for the petting area is asked to get in touch.

As well as the animals, there will also be a children’s craft area and face painting. Dog owners are asked to leave their pets at home to avoid conflict between them and the animals in the marquee.

Stewards are needed to help ensure the event runs smoothly and anyone who’d like to volunteer should email Mike White at mwhite1767@btinternet.com or Michelle Legumi at michelle.legumi@gmail.com.
