The honesty of motorists in St Keverne and Coverack will continue to be relied upon after it was decided not to install ticket machines in the villages’ car parks.

It had been suggested that pay and display machines could be placed in the car parks, like ones that already exist in Grade Ruan.

St Keverne Parish Council clerk Grace Hatton told members that the Grade Ruan had replaced its machines for £3,000.

St Keverne’s councillors, however, felt this was money that could be spent elsewhere.

Chairman Roger Combe also pointed out: “The problem is if we have a machine there we still have to empty it.”

Councillor Michael Anselmi agreed: “There’s nothing like a slot in a box and a bit of honesty.”

It was decided to maintain the status quo and keep the honesty boxes in situ.
