Redruth rugby coach Vincent May has been jailed after stealing tour money to fund a gambling addiction
The cash was taken from young players' parents, and was meant to be used to fund tours for the club's youth teams.
May, of Perran Sands holiday Park, Perranporth, stole £5,365 between September 1, 2012, and February 16, this year.
Judge John Neligan said a custodial sentence was his only option as May was already subject to a three year conditional discharge for falsifying tacograph records,
The tour went ahead only because parents "dug deep in their own pockets" to help the children, with the judge adding that May had "mercilessly" pocked cash entrusted to him.
Fred Hawell defending May said his client was sorry for the hurt he had caused.
