The children at St Mary’s School in Falmouth have ensured less fortunate youngsters in Romania will have something to open this Christmas by taking part in the annual shoe box appeal.
Pupils from all classes were invited to get involved by filling boxes with items that will be treasured by less fortunate children. This included sweets, toys, hats, gloves and toiletries.
Christine Morris, of St Mary’s Church, popped into school on Thursday to collect the 101 boxes that had been filled by the children and wrapped in festive paper.
She said: “This is the sixth or seventh year we have done the shoe box appeal at school. I came up and talked to the children at the beginning of October and have come back again now to collect the boxes.”
In addition to the boxes prepared by the children, the team from St Mary’s Church also collected 88 boxes which had been put together by local parishioners.
