Father Christmas will be visiting St Keverne tomorrow evening when the village switches on its Christmas lights.

While Friday the 13th might be unlucky for some, this date in December means an evening of fun for those in St Keverne.

Father Christmas will be in his grotto on the square and there will be carol singing around the Christmas tree, featuring children from the village primary School as well as St Keverne Male Voice Choir.

There will also be a barbecue, with mulled wine, hot chocolate and doughnuts for sale. People will have the chance to guess the name of a Teddy bear and youngsters can take part in a children’s lucky dip as they wait for the lights to be switched on.

Tickets are already on sale for the annual grand prize raffle, in which first prize is £150, second prize is £100 and third prize is a large Christmas food hamper. There will also be more prizes up for grabs.

The fun kicks off at 6.30pm and, as part of the evening, the winners will be announced for the village’s best decorations and a children’s picture competition.

The organising committee is looking for volunteers to help in the set up of the light displays, which takes place on Saturday, December 9, in the square from 9am.
