Former hostage Terry Waite will be guest of honour and catwalk model at a charity event in Falmouth this evening (Friday), which is being organised by students from local schools.
The Fabulous Fair Wear Fashion Show is the brainchild of a group of year 11 students from Falmouth School, Penryn College and Mullion School who came up with the idea as part of Citizenship for Life.
The event, to be staged at The Poly in Falmouth, will raise money for Emmaus Cornwall, which takes people who are homeless and desperate and provides them with a home, work and skills.
Terry Waite is the charity’s national president and has lent his support to the students’ efforts, agreeing to attend Friday’s fundraiser.
Not only will he attend the fashion show, which starts at 6pm, but will also attend an afternoon tea party from 4.30pm, joined by those who have bought VIP tickets.
The fashion show will include a “frock swap” with people encouraged to take unwanted dresses which can be exchanged for a new look.
A ticket for the show costs £10 while a VIP ticket costs £15. They can be booked by visiting www.thepoly.org.
