Truro Cathedral Choir will perform a traditional Christmas concert on Saturday, December 14 at 7.30 pm?

At the heart of the programme are festive favourites, Away in a Manger, We Three Kings, The Sans Day Carol, Silent Night and Once in Royal David’s City, alongside a short selection of numbers from Handel’s Messiah and one or two less well-known carols like the Spanish 16th century Ríu, ríu, chíu.

It has been quite a year for Truro Cathedral Choir. In August they received standing ovations from audiences at concerts in Sweden and in March and November they released two high profile CD recordings.

These have been played numerous times on Classic FM (where one track is in their Hall of Fame) and BBC Radio 3, and one disc even made it into the UK Classical Top 20.

Described as "one of the jewels in Cornwall’s musical crown", the concert will see the choir doing what they do best – singing carols at Christmas.

There will also be entertaining readings by Richard and Juliet Lingham and Radio Cornwall’s Daphne Skinnard and Tim Hubbard.

Tickets are priced £12 to £15 (students £6 to £7.50; under-16s free) and are available from the Hall for Cornwall Box Office online, or 01872 262466.
