Porthleven Christmas lights switch-on this evening

Porthleven will become a twinkling mass of coloured lights this Friday when its Christmas display is switched on.

Celebrations begin at 7pm with Porthleven Town Band playing carols.

Following the switch on at 7.15pm it is hoped that Father Christmas will pay a visit to give out sweets to the children attending.

Weather permitting, there will be a fireworks display.

From darkness to light, Porthleven at its best, a magical glow of lights with the lovely back drop of the harbour and sound of the sea, with Porthleven Town Band with the added speciality of a good firework display.
Thank you to everyone that makes all this happen.

Didn't you say on here you went to the Helston lights switch on? How did you manage to be in two places at the same time?
Helston Christmas lights switch on was Friday the 29th Nov, the light switch on in Porthleven was Friday 6th Dec, I was also with the walking nativity in Mullion on Fri 6th Dec which finished about 18:00, I then got to Porthleven by 18:30 in plenty of time for their lights switch on. I then attended Mullion lights switch on today Saturday 7th Dec, 18:00, followed by a concert in the chapel at 18:30 and will be back in the chapel tomorrow at 18:00 for a carol concert.

As it happens, the lights in Mullion are already always on prior to the actual switch on time, apart from the tree lights, as opposed to Porthleven that do it properly and only turn the lights and tree lights on at the official switch on time.
The walking nativity in Mullion was good apart from the fact the words on my hymn sheet were completely different to those of everyone else's.

What I cannot understand is why Father Christmas looked different when in Helston, Porthleven and Mullion!!!

Porthleven and Helston, but then I have reason to be biased.
