The enterprising pupils of Penryn Junior School did their bit by running stalls at this year's Christmas fair.
The fair had a good turnout and raised around £2,200, with around £250 coming from enterprise stalls created and run by the school children, and £236 raised by a tombola match funded by Barclays bank.
Headteacher Robin Cowen said that along with all the usual stalls cake, book, and white elephant stalls, the children ran stands where fair-goers could guess the name of a teddy, or the number of sweets in a jar, and sold produce they had made themselves.
He said: “The children designed and ran their own stalls to get the experience of raising money. It encouraged them to get a bit entrepreneurial.”
Mr Cowen was very pleased with the success of the event, and said: “When you consider that everybody is struggling with austerity, that level of support is very warming.”
