Helston theme park Flambards has been sold, it was confirmed today.

The park was under administration at the time of the sale.

The site has been bought by Livingstone Leisure Ltd, run by Ian Cunningham who also founded the Blue Reef Aquarium and is a former operations director of the Eden Project.

He has been quoted as saying there were “no immediate plans” to change any of existing facilities, with the park now closed for the winter in order to refurbish the attractions.

It could reopen again as early as Easter 2014

The majority of staff were laid off last month, having been told the sale was taking “longer than hoped.”

Earlier in November the company strongly dismissed rumours that it was facing financial difficulties, having been put up for sale at the beginning of May.
