SHOPPERS in Camborne can’t get enough of Father Christmas in the build up to Christmas.

The Santa Seat as it’s becoming known, is in Cross Street and is the town’s most popular decoration.

Mel Martin, BID manager for BID Camborne said: “ We are a bit shocked by how popular it is.

“We thought it was a bit of a gamble but everyone seems to like it, young and old.

“I guess deep down you never stop loving Santa.”

The Santa Seat is just one of a number of attractions that the town has on offer this Christmas which includes a state of the art 30ft tree, regular Christmas produce markets and a number of musical offerings.

The real Father Christmas will be at the Produce Market on Friday, December 13 from 4pm where he will be giving out presents donated by Camborne Chamber of Commerce.

The traditional lantern parade takes place on Thursday December 19 and promises to be a feast of festive entertainment.

The evening will start with music in Commercial Square from 5:30pm, before the lantern parade, led by Father Christmas, lights up the streets.

Local Samba bands will provide music for the parade and the finale will see the lanterns congregate in Commercial Square for music from the Truro Pipes and Proper Job.

George Le Hunte, chairman for BID Camborne said: “This is the best lead up to Christmas in Camborne that I can remember.

“The tree is a talking point and has been described as being ‘glamorous’ and ‘cosmopolitan’.”

The tree certainly is a talking point, having been the subject of a phone in on Laurence Reed’s show a couple of weeks ago.

“What really matters though is the range of shops and businesses that Camborne has to offer, which is perfect for this time of the year.

“The free parking at the Rosewarne Car Parks on Saturdays has meant that visitors can browse without watching the meter, and that continues every Saturday right up until December 21st.

“We say that Camborne has Christmas all wrapped up.”
