Crowds of visitors were delighted by Mousehole’s Christmas lights display after braving the weather on Saturday for the switch on.

The rain let up long enough for an open-air carolaire service at the entrance to the North Quay, led by the Carolaire Choir, comprising of the Mousehole Male Voice Choir, members of the Mousehole Methodist Church and friends from the community together with the Pendeen Silver Band.

The lights, which are 50 years old this year, were switched on by committee president and former chairman Dudley Penrose, chief designer and founding member Stuart Purnell and retiring secretary Diana Burroughs, and there was an audio link to Australia to speak to another founding member Watson Trevaskis.
