Children from Penryn Infants School have visited the Methodist Church to put presents under the Christmas tree.

They were joined by Michael Moore, chairman of the Penryn Christmas lights committee, when they visited to put the decorations in place.

The children, from year two at the school, went inside the church where they looked at and discussed the nativity scene and the story of Christmas.

They were accompanied by teacher Mrs Hall, who gave what head teacher Gillian Wright described as a “running RE lesson.”

Mrs Wright said: “We’ve been doing it for more than 20 years. All the children club together and make and decorate these boxes “They used to decorate the tree and sing carols round it, more recently the boxes have been taken into the church rather than left outside.

“The ladies in the church were delighted to see them come inside, they took them around and showed them the inside of the church.”
