Falmouth School has appointed a new group of student leaders from among its top year 11 pupils.

The school interviewed a small group of students for the roles of head boy and girl, deputy head boy and girl, as well as a number of prefect positions.

Head boy Jonathan Laundon, head girl Esther Martin, and their deputies Gareth Willetts and Charlotte Emsden will lead a team of eight prefects and a team of junior leadership team |representatives elected from each of the school’s tutor groups to ensure that the school’s student voice is heard.

Jem Wallis, director of leadership, said: “The decision we had to make was incredibly difficult. The calibre of |candidates that we had to choose from was just incredible and the |presentations and interviews that each gave were outstanding.”

The team will attend the schools governors and senior leadership team meetings, reporting on their work to ensure that student leadership is recognised and embedded in the school’s work.

Mr Wallis said: “This is a really exciting time for Falmouth School.

“Our newly elected students are fantastic positive role models for our students and they will help to ensure that student leadership has a much greater impact on the school and its |students as we move forward.”
