MP Andrew George has given his stamp of approval to Helston’s Royal Mail delivery office in the run up to Christmas.

Mr George popped in to pass on Christmas wishes and encouragement to the postmen and women at their busiest time of year.

He was shown round the office by local delivery office manager Lisa Batty and was introduced to the staff working hard sorting and delivering cards and parcels in the Helston area in the run-up to Christmas.

Mr George said: “It was great to meet the dedicated, hard-working Royal Mail postmen and women at Helston delivery office and to see first-hand just how much effort they put into delivering for people at this time of year.

“Postmen and women do such an important job at this time of year. I like to thank them for their efforts and wish them all the best over the festive period.”

Lisa Batty, Royal Mail delivery office manager at Helston, said: “Christmas is the busiest time of year for Royal Mail. Our people pull out all the stops throughout the year to ensure mail is delivered quickly, but even more so over the busy festive period. We are grateful that Andrew George MP came along to see the hard work behind the scenes.”

She added that in order for people not to have to wait for post to be redelivered if they were out, opening hours were being extended at a number of offices, to make it easier to pick up parcels in person.
