Police are appealing for witnesses after a man brandishing a meat cleaver robbed a newsagent in Bude.

The incident occurred at around 2.00pm in the Candy Shop and newsagent located in Belle Vue in Bude.

The offender, a white man entered the shop armed with weapons described as a knife and a meat cleaver and threatened the cashier before stealing the contents of the till.

He then left the premises.

The offender is described as being aged in his 20 to 30’s, approximately 5’ 8” in height, slim build, dark hair, with a thin face and clean shaven.

He was wearing a black puffa jacket, slim cut light coloured trousers, believed to be either cream/grey or pale blue and dark leather footwear .

Police would like to hear from anyone who may have either witnessed the incident or has any knowledge as to the identity of the offender.
