Students from Helston Community College were on a drama trip to London on Thursday, on the same day as the roof collapsed into one of West End’s top theatres.
Fortunately the party was not involved in the incident on Thursdsay at the Apollo Theatre.
The country watched in horror as pictures and video were streamed back showing the aftermath of the incident in Shaftesbury Avenue.
A large section of plaster fell from the roof midway through a performance of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, one of the West End’s hottest tickets at the moment.
Seven people were reported to be seriously injured, with a further 69 described as “walking wounded.”
Shortly after reports began circling of the incident, a notice went up on the college’s Facebook page saying: “Important notice regarding the drama trip to London.
"All our students and staff are safe and sound and are currently travelling back from London. They were not in the Apollo Theatre when the roof collapsed.”
