Pets at Home in Truro joined forces with K9 Crusaders at Bissoe to make sure the dogs waiting for their “forever homes” still had a first class Christmas.
With volunteers manning buckets in one hand and their own pooches in the other, the store was inundated with animal lovers, all happy to give their change and donate dog food to the charity, with more than £480 raised.
A spokesperson said: “Pets at Home were delighted to help K9 out and have held several fundraising events for local animal charities, raising much needed cash to keep the homes running. There is a large food drop off point at the store in Truro, so please buy something extra next time you are in.”
It costs K9 Crusaders more than £3,000 a month to keep the kennels going and these are manned entirely by volunteers.
With more than 50 dogs to re-home at the present time the charity is always on the lookout for people to help, not only with the dogs on site, giving them homes, but also helping with maintenance, gardening, and fundraising.
