All Saints Church is lightening up the dark winter days with its annual festival of Christmas trees.

The Falmouth church had a large congregation on the third Sunday of advent for the switching-on of the lights, and many of those present were responsible for decorating some of the 39 trees, with a number taking part in the service by reading and leading prayers.

The illuminator and preacher for the ceremony, which brings together the religious and secular communities, was the Archdeacon of Cornwall, the Ven Bill Stuart-White.

The trees, decorated by schools, shops, charities and other churches, will be on display every day up to New Year’s Eve, and the church is open to the public on weekdays between10am and 7pm and on Sundays between 2pm and 4pm.
