Questionnaires are to be sent to every household in Helston asking for views on how to spend a £250,000 pot of cash.

The money is set aside to make town centre improvements, with the aim of boosting Helston's economy.

It is a percentage of the cash given by Sainsbury's and Tesco, intended to offset the effects of their new stores on the outskirts.

The results of the questionnaire, which will be distributed in January, including to the 1,000 personnel in living quarters on base at RNAS Culdrose, will be presented at a second public meeting as a follow up to one held in October.

It will once again be open to residents and businesses, with Thursday, February 13 pencilled in as a date to be confirmed.

Other events are also being planned, with the possibility of extra meetings in other parts of the town, to encourage involvement from a cross section of people.

A specific business questionnaire is being drafted to send directly to owners and managers via face-to-face interviews in January, to run parallel with the residents' consultation.

There is even talk of a drop-in session taking place in an empty shop, possibly when designs have been drawn up further down the line.
