Combining the weekly shop with a mammogram appears to be a hit with the ladies of Falmouth and Penryn and the surrounding areas.
ASDA Penryn has welcomed the Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust’s mobile breast screening unit to their car park for the next six months.
Jenny Bailey, assistant practitioner, said: “It’s been very positively received by the ladies. Many of them like the fact they can come and get screened and then pop into ASDA for their shopping or use the café.”
Emma Spouse, diagnostics lead at Royal Cornwall Hospital, Truro, added: “The Trust is really grateful to ASDA Penryn for allowing us to use the space especially during the busy Christmas period. Mammograms are an important way to detect cancer early and give women a good chance of beating the disease.”
Bernadette Snow, ASDA Community Life, said: “ASDA is always keen on supporting its local communities and we recognise how important this screening service is. The store is pleased to be able to do its part in helping local women to beat cancer.”
