The Money Group in Truro to rebrand as USave, with the promise of new jobs
2:40pm Monday 30th December 2013 in News
Truro's The Money Group is set to rebrand itself as USave, with the promise of 'hundreds' more jobs in the city and in Plymouth.
USave will aim to save customers money by getting them the best deals available on a range of services including mortgages, loans, insurance, utilities and energy.
Formerly known as The Money Group (TMG), USave offers more than just the financial management solutions so successfully provided by its predecessor.
“We will be the UK’s first supported switching service,” said USave’s commercial director Robert Salvoni.
“Instead of people having to use online comparison websites to save themselves money on things like mortgages, loans and breakdown cover, we can do the searching for them and help throughout the switching process. There is no cost to the customer – our Savings Champions will be there to reduce bills, not add to them. If preferred, we are also very happy for customers to come and see us in either Truro or Plymouth and chat to us direct.”
Bosses say that the total company re-brand includes "an even greater emphasis on staff well-being".
Managing Director Tony Murtagh moved to Cornwall in the 1980s with two staff. Between 1995 and 2004 he built The Mortgage Group into the UK’s largest mortgage broker with 800 employees before selling it to GE Money in 2004 and launching TMG.
The company says that "in the last 30 years it is estimated that Mr Murtagh’s businesses have contributed £100m in salaries alone to the local economy".
The Truro launch of USave will take place at 3pm on Thursday, January 2 with long serving member of staff Philip Wiiburg, who has worked for Tony Murtagh in Truro for 21 years, will cut the official ribbon.
