Two glasses of wine cost a Falmouth man his driving licence for a year at Truro’s magistrates’ court when he pleaded guilty to drink driving.
David Phillip Seabourne, aged 61, of Langton Terrace, Falmouth, admitted driving at Falmouth on December 1 when he had 52 mcg alcohol, 17 points over the limit, in his breath.
Alison May, for the CPS, said officers followed his car and stopped it at Old Hill where he gave a positive breath test, and later tested over the limit again.
Neil Lewin, his solicitor, said he was deeply ashamed to be in court. He had been driving for 40 years and it was part of his employment for his job as a labourer at the dockyard at Falmouth. He had had two glasses of wine, and accepted he had been silly to get behind the wheel afterwards. Seabourne was fined £110 and banned from driving for a year.
