Tributes have been paid to a Truro man who died in a road traffic collision on the A30 at Bolventor.

Sixty three-year-old Michael Gregson died following the crash on Sunday, December 22, while travelling back to see family over Christmas.

Six vehicles in total were involved in multiple collisions on both carriageways near Bolventor, a few miles east of Bodmin, shortly after midday.

His family said: “Mike had spent much of his career working in local government, most recently for Cornwall Council.

“He had lived in the Truro area for around 20 years but originated from Lytham St Annes in Lancashire.

“He had retained strong links to his Fylde Coast roots, where his mother, two brothers and extended family still reside.

“He was travelling back to see his family when the accident occurred just before Christmas.

“Mike’s great passion in life over many years had been for railways and he was a keen member of many preserved and restored steam lines.

“Associated with this, he derived great pleasure from photography and had collated an exceptional collection of material, which will now be donated for others to enjoy.

“Mike was also an enthusiastic sports fan, particularly in relation to football and rugby.

“Mike will be remembered for his kind, cautious, thoughtful and considerate manner.

“He leaves behind many friends and relations who are shocked and greatly saddened by his untimely death.”
