Easyjet has confirmed that the Newquay to Southend route has been scrapped.

The airline had run services to the airport on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturday, with plans to add another day to the schedule, however they have all now been pulled.

The route had been celebrated by business leaders and the airport's management when it started in 2012, with London called a key business and tourism market for Cornwall.

A spokesman said: ""EasyJet has taken the decision to withdraw its summer season flights between Newquay and London Southend.

“Passengers booked to fly to London Southend will be able to claim a full refund and we apologise for any inconvenience caused.

“We will continue to operate flights to Liverpool between 3 July and 7 September.”
