Plans to reinstate three cottages in Falmouth’s town centre, complete with an area of green space, are to be considered by town councillors in the new year.

Sky Blue Properties are behind the proposals to reinstate a terrace of dwellings formerly known as 2 to 4 Prospect Place. The plans relate to an area of land behind 10 Church Street and next to St George’s Arcade.

There were previously three houses on the site which were demolished in the 1930s when the Borough of Falmouth issued a clearance order for both Prospect Cottages and adjacent Snow’s Passage. The land has lain vacant and unused since then.

CAD Architects say: “Opes and passages characterise this old Falmouth as do small discrete dwellings tucked away behind more grand buildings and facades, such as Church Street. The proposal seeks to reinstate the dwellings as they existed in 1936 prior to demolition.

“The positive impact of the proposal is to tidy the upper end of the site and to create a communal ‘green’ garden around which the dwellings sit.”

The proposals are expected to go before Falmouth’s planning committee on January 13 and will ultimately be determined by Cornwall Council.
