The moment Truro was awoken by flashing lightning and crashing thunder was captured on camera this morning, just after 6am.
The image, taken while the city was still in darkness, was captured by Adam Sargent.
The lightning storm also impacted on rail travel, with lightning damaging equipment between Truro and Falmouth Docks. Trains are operating every 90 mins and replacement buses are still running.
