The Olympics, bad weather and the struggling econopmy have been blamed for the Eden Project's worst ever loss.
The trust had a deficit of £6.3m for the year 2012/13, ending March 2013, with a trading loss of £1.3. The year before it had a surplus of £136,000 with a trading profit of £3.6million.
The Cornwall eco-attraction said its underlying trading loss was about £1.3m compared with a profit of £3.6m in the previous year.
Workers at the attraction lost their jobs last year, with over 50 posts going as visitor numbers dropped to 953,000.
Land at Eden has also been sold.
