Emergency work is underway to repair parts of the harbour wall at Portreath damaged by the huge waves and recent storms.
Clle Joyce Duffin said that Cornwall Council's maritime manager has instructed a company to undertake emergency repairs to some of the guardrails, mesh panels, quay and pavement surfaces, quay wall repairs near the wave breaker, wave breaker support post and repair/replace the security panels leading on to the Finger Pier.
Adding that he is getting prices for rebuilding it ‘as was’ as well as a price for repairing the back wall and levelling the base where it is.
Ms Duffin said: "The harbour is listed and part of the World Heritage Site and as such we will be very much guided by that team at the council, on what we should do to make sure we comply with any of necessary requirements.
"Hopefully there will be funding from English Heritage and/or the Environment Agency."
Of "immediate concern" is damage to the finger pier that offers flood defence to the village.
