Shoppers in Camborne can park for free in January at the Rosewarne car parks, thanks to business owners in the town.

The Business Improvement District is footing the bill until and including Saturday January 25, following a hugely successful scheme that ran in December.

Mel Martin, BID manager for BID Camborne, said: “We are really pleased that we have been able to negotiate this deal for shoppers visiting the town.

“The run up to Christmas saw huge numbers of shoppers benefit from the free parking.

“We have listened to shoppers and businesses and because everyone is feeling the pinch at this time of year we decided that extending this into 2014.”

Jewellery shop owner Max Doble said: “The free parking definitely increased footfall in the town in December. Our customers were telling us how busy the car park was so it certainly contributed to a busy Christmas.

“With a bus station also centrally located it's easy to get into town which is great for shoppers as it's fairly level throughout the main shopping area.

“Because of the way the parking charges operate you can effectively park in Rosewarne car parks without charge between 4pm on a Friday afternoon through until 9am on a Monday morning without the fear of getting a ticket.”

Full details about the free parking offer can be found at the entrance to the Rosewarne car parks as well as on the website www.cambornecando.co.uk.
