Falmouth fashion company Seasalt is building on its success by opening new stores, a further five planned for 2014, including Bath and Dorchester in the spring.

The company saw sales grow by 29 per cent in 2013, with new shops opening in Chichester and Lyme Regis.

Neil Chadwick, joint managing director of Seasalt said: “It has been a very busy year, helped by the beautiful summer we had in 2013. It has meant we have been able to increase our workforce by an extra 47 people.”

The company won the Queen’s Award for Enterprise in Sustainable Development in recognition of its engagement with the local community, and also won industry magazine Drapers Womenswear Brand of the Year, a highly prestigious award and never before won by a southwest company. In the summer it was also awarded Price Waterhouse West of England Business of the Year.

Neil added: “Our awards this year have helped us become recognised as a business with huge ambition, and at the same time aiming to do things in the best way we can. Winning the Queens Award was a huge honour for everybody in the business and we would like to thank everybody sincerely for the amazing work they have done this year.”

In spring the company will launchi its homeware collection, with bed linen, featuring Seasalt’s unique prints, sold in selected Seasalt shops, John Lewis, Fenwicks, and other specialist independents throughout the UK.

The home collection will also include ceramics from the Leach pottery in St Ives, developed in conjunction with the Seasalt design team.
