An 82-year-old local woman is in a critical condition after being cut from the wreackage of a car following a crash at Ponsanooth yesterday.

Police are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward.

As the woman travelled uphill from the village of Ponsanooth her Ford KA collided with a wall before mounting the verge. The car then rolled over on to its roof.

As the vehicle returned to the carriageway, it collided with the rear bumper of a bus.

The woman was taken to hospital at Treliske with life-threatening injuries. Her condition is said to be critical.

No-one on the bus was injured.

The A393 in Ponsanooth has reopened following a crash involving an overturned car at Pelean Cross this morning.

A woman is being treated for injuries after being cut free from an overturned car on the A393 near Ponsanooth.

The road was closed in both directions after the car overturned at Pelean Cross.

Police were called at 11.22 am with a woman in need of ambulance treatment after being cut out of the vehicle by firefighters.

There was a road closure at the junction of the road to Stithians, and a serious collision investigation unit was sent to the scene.
