A 66-year-old man who failed to sign on to the sexual offenders’ register as required by a previous court had done the same thing on seven previous occasions, Truro magistrates heard.
David Roy Butterworth, of no fixed address, pleaded guilty to failing to comply with the requirements by not notifying his change of address on January 8 at Helston.
He had a number of previous convictions, including in 2007 for matters of outraging public decency, when he was required to sign on to the register for seven years.
Neil Lewin, his solicitor, said he was by nature a traveller and would generally walk and camp in remote areas, making it difficult for him to sign on.
Butterworth was sent to prison for 12 weeks.
