Penryn College’s longest serving member of staff is due to retire after 36 years in the job.

Teacher Alan Hulbert started working at the school as a pottery teacher in 1976, before moving on to the art department, and also spent time teaching technology before switching to PE.

Mr Hulbert was also well known for participation in extra-curricular activities including boating trips and camps on the Isles of Scilly, which he took part in 28 times.

The school said: “Alan will be sorely missed at the college and we wish him all the best for the future.”
