Firefighters were called to Kestle Mill near Newquay yesterday evening after a report of a car with three children inside stuck in a ford.
Five firefighters from Newquay in one appliance were drafted in to help the people stuck in a river ford near Legonna.
A Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said there were five people in the vehicle including three children and that a marker in the river suggested that the water in the ford was two foot deep.
Firefighters used a winch to pull the vehicle free from the ford and the occupants of the vehicle remained on scene awaiting recovery.
