The fundraising owners of the Gem Fish Bar in Falmouth have had a helping had in their fundraising campaign for charity Whizz-Kidz.
Dominic and Helen Kurdyla held an all you can eat buffet at the end of last year, which raised £1,535 through ticket sales and a raffle and auction, and last Wednesday they were presented with a cheque from Santander which doubled that amount to £3,070.
Helen said: “We’re over the moon with how the fundraising event went, lots of money came in, which exceeded our expectations. It just shows the generosity of people when it comes to a charity event.”
Mark Bullen, branch manager of Santander’s Falmouth branch, said: “Whizz-Kidz is a fantastic national charity that helps local kids as well.
“Santander want to be involved in the community and one of the best ways to do that is by getting involved in fundraising.
“We have a £1.2 million community plus fund, and we can give up to £5,000 to charities that benefit people in the local area.”
The buffet was part of a fundraising campaign which will culminate in the couple running the London Marathon on April 13.
Helen said: “We’re on track with the training, we’re working hard as it’s only about twelve weeks to go now.”
