Residents in Ponsanooth have helped support the flood hit village store, raising £1,126 at a cake sale held in local pub the Stag Hunt Inn.
The shop was flooded in December, and along with the money raised at the weekend, owner Michelle Firminger received another morale boost with the unveiling of a temporary building from which to operate.
As well as plenty of cakes, there was a bring and buy stall, a raffle, and tea, coffee and pasties available.
Garry James, landlord of the pub, said: “It was more than we were expecting, a huge turnout, very successful and showed a lot of support for Michelle.
“It was nice to see the village coming together to support the shop.”
The temporary shop was supplied by free Truro Portable Buildings, and will provide a secure structure while the shop is refurbished, however Michelle is still on the lookout for refrigeration equipment to allow her to stock a full range of goods.
