The Lizard RNLI launched its lifeboat 23 times over the course of 2013 – 13 more times than the previous year.
The station helped 34 people and spent 534 hours at sea, with 16 shouts taking place in the dark.
On seven Kerrier beaches with RNLI lifeguards, Gunwalloe, Kennack Sands, Poldhu Cove, Polurrian Cove Porthleven, Portreath, and Praa Sands, the number of incidents attended rose by around 80 per cent from 303 in 2012 to 557 in 2013, and 453 people were helped.
