Bit of afternoon fun. Ten things you may not know about Cornwall if you’re not from here.
1. When a job needs doing it’ll be done ‘Dreckly’ which probably means never at all.
2. Still if you are lucky and the work is completed within a reasonable timescale it’ll be a “Proper job”
3. The result will ‘Bleddy ansome’.
4. ‘Wasson?’ means What’s on? In other words ‘What’s happening?’).
5. It’s Cornish pahhh-sty (not pasty).
6. When something’s good it’s ‘Right on’.
7. Cornish women are either ‘Maids’ or ‘burds’.
8. Trago Mills, is a Cornish institution and the county’s equivalent to Harrods or Selfridges. You’ll find anything you want there and incredibly cheap.
9. Although you’ll probably be asked by the sales staff: ‘Do you wan it or no?’
10. And finally when going somewhere , drop the ‘to’ as in ‘Going Truro’ ‘Over Penryn’
