Big name acts such as Groove Armada feature on the line up for this year’s Summer Masked Ball in Porthleven.

Organisers have pledged “more glitz and glam” for this year’s event, which takes place on Saturday, May 3 at the usual venue of Beacon Crag.

Headliners Groove Armada are confirmed to perform a DJ set, with Jelly Jazz Horsemeat Disco and Marcus Marr from the New York DFA label also signed up.

A new addition to the 2014 event is a live stage on the upper terrace, hosting sets from south west party favourites Dreadzone, Masked Ball residents The Cuban Brothers and Rosie Vanier’s new band Light Knife.

Dancehall favourites Sir Vinyl will once again be taking over the infamous Snow Dome, this time in conjunction with dub pioneers Trojan Sound System alongside festival favourite MC Boogaloo Dee.

On the organisational side, changes include a new security and stewarding team, a lowered capacity, brighter lighting in car parks and camping areas and an improved layout of the event arena.

The VIP camping area is back for those who prefer to chill in style, with premium accommodation options include bell tents, tipis and The Masked Ball’s own “hobbit huts.”

It is close to the arena, where a limited number of camping pitches are available allowing people to enjoy upgraded facilities including hot showers and plush toilets.

Masked Ball director Kelvin Batt said: “We’ve put the ‘ball’ back into The Masked Ball, with more glitz and glam than ever before. With a great team of creative party engineers, you can be assured you’ll be in for some awesome surprises, which is what the Masked Ball is all about. It’s not a festival, it’s not a concert; it’s a ball, and we aim to give you the best 12 hours of 2014.”
