There was a mixed reaction to a St Keverne farmer’s plans to install 98 solar panels.

David Lambrick has asked for planning permission to place the ground-mounted photovoltaic panels on land at Trenance.

His plans came before the parish council last week, when member Russell Peters described them as “monstrosities.”

He said: “I think they spoil the countryside.”

However, he conceded that these panels could be hidden.

Councillor Michael Anselmi said he was normally not in favour, but this was for a small bank of panels.

Councillor Roger Richards said: “The ones in the ground are better than the roof ones.” They agreed by majority to support the plans.
