Falmouth Harmony Choir cash handed to good causes
2:00pm Monday 17th February 2014 in News
Money raised by the Cornish Harmony Choir during its annual Christmas Eve carol concert through the street of Falmouth has been divided between four local good causes.
Representatives from the Falmouth Stroke Club, Falmouth Mission to Seafarers, Falmouth Befriending Service and Falmouth Town Council’s Festival Fund joined members of the choir at the annual presentation evening when they were all handed cheques for £300.
There was a celebratory atmosphere at the event, which was held at Falmouth Bowling Club free of charge, with entertainment provided by Treverva Male Voice Choir. There was also a raffle with all money raised going to choir funds.
The choir was formed in 1990 and was originally known as the Falmouth Docks Foundry Choir and raised money for sick and out of work members of the docks’ workforce at Christmas. It has gone on to become a tradition in Falmouth, with the choir’s annual mobile carol concert attracting crowds of people and often bringing the town centre to a halt.
