Workers tackling the Somerset floods have enjoyed a taste of Cornwall, thanks to 'Mission Cornish Pasty'.
The pasty aid mission aimed to feed the workers supporting flood victims on the Somerset Levels and surrounding villages.
Started by Cornish woman Sarah Phippen, who now lives on the Somerset Levels, she said as a mum of four, with a daughter at school, and many other children affected by the flooding in our area, she felt she had to do something to help".
Adding: "As I have little ones at home, practical help such as sandbagging, moving furniture and belongings to safety, dredging, clearing paths, cleaning ditches and drains, all jobs that are happening daily at the moment in Moorland, Burrowbridge, Muchelney, and surrounding villages, are jobs I was unable to contribute, so my plan. was to help feed those who are able to help.
"It's been miserable out there, wet, cold, dirty, and it's not getting any better. What better to warm you up than a nice Cornish pasty.
"I contacted a few bakeries by phone, and had a mixed response, so I decided to take the bull by the horn and get on Radio Cornwall. Luckily an old school friend of mine, Tiffany, is a DJ, and got me a slot on air.
That was last Friday, February 14, and since then hundreds of pasties have been donated to Mission Cornish Pasty', baked and handed out to hungry helpers on The Levels.
Among the many companies to have helped are Crantock Bakery, Philp's Bakery, The Pasty Line Co, Shauls Bakery, AC Richards & Son, Pendle Funerals, and her mum and dad.
