UPDATE: The two-year-old child who died yesterday has now been named as Holly Young of Tintagel.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision and in particular anyone who was walking or driving in the area at the time who can recollect seeing a young woman walking with a pushchair accompanied by a small toddler.
Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101, quoting police reference 280 of 25/02/14.A toddler has died in hospital after a being hit by a van in Cornwall
Police were called to the scene in Molesworth Street, Tintagel just after noon today.
The toddler, who was a pedestrian at the time, was involved in a collision with a van in the village
The young girl was taken to Derriford Hospital via the air ambulance in a critical condition. The van driver was treated at the scene by paramedics.
The main road in Tintagel was closed while police collision investigators carried out enquiries. Motorists are asked not to travel to the area and are advised there will be disruption for a considerable time.
Police would like any witnesses to the incident to come forward and ask them to call police on 101 quoting reference 280 of February 25.
