UPDATE: British Transport Police officers have "fresh lines of enquiry – including the name of a man" after a report of alleged cruelty at Truro railway station where a man was said to have struck a dog after it fell onto tracks.
British Transport Police have cancelled their appeal for help after information was provided by the public.
They say they have the name of a man they wish to speak to in connection with the alleged incident.
PC Wayne Frost said: “I’d like to thank the media for running the appeal on our behalf and those members of the public who came forward with information.”
After discussions with the RSPCA, BTP launched an investigation into an alleged offence shortly before 2pm on Monday, 16 December 2013.
PC Wayne Frost, of BTP, said: “A man went to board a train which had arrived at Truro station but the dog he was with fell backward and onto the tracks.
“After picking the dog up, the man is alleged to have struck the animal with force.
